Teknion Toronto Hub Recognized with Building Health Leadership Award

Teknion Corporation today announced that its recently redesigned and expanded Toronto Collaboration Hub received the Building Health Leadership Award presented by the Green Health Partnership, a research and development initiative between the University of Virginia School of Medicine and USGBC, in collaboration with the International WELL Building Institute. The award was presented to Teknion at the Global Health and Wellness Summit during the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, held last month at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

“We believe that the Teknion Collaboration Hub exemplifies leadership in green building and health promotion, and are celebrating this leadership by recognizing the project with the Building Health Leadership Award,” said Kelly Worden, Director, Health Research, U.S. Green Building Council. “This award recognizes green building projects that demonstrate outstanding leadership in health promotion as an intentional focus for their design, construction and operation. Specifically, we recognize projects that plan for health, take action through building certifications and strive to measure operational performance.”

“Teknion is honored to be recognized for leadership in advancing what seems fundamental to business and the importance of human health,” said Tracy Backus, Director, Sustainable Programs, Teknion. “We hope that others will be encouraged to advance cultural changes within their own organizations for the future. We couldn’t have done this without our partner, Ecoworks Studio.”

With the redesigned and expanded Collaboration Hub, Teknion has created a destination that embraces current and still-evolving work strategies. The space encourages guests to feel comfortable and inspired as they experience various workstyles firsthand − focused, collaborative or social. The Hub also speaks to well-being and productivity through biophilic elements woven throughout the showroom.

The showroom is LEED Gold and WELL Silver certified. Teknion is actively working towards achieving higher certification, maintaining its commitment to sustainability. Vanderbyl Design, PearsonLloyd and SGH Design Partners acted as Collaboration Hub design consultants, with the former serving as lead designer.
